This film is not a wholesome family Biblical experience intended to be shared by children. The implementation reality when it comes to enforcing the 'R' rating can also be misleading if popularity or herd mentality becomes a factor. **** Those who make the assumption that viewers of this film are only adults forget what the 'R' rating permits. Let's use some adult judgment and common sense here please! Don't crucify Gibson just because you "heard" it was this or that. Sure there is some "artistic license" but that's to be expected.
I am glad that someone finally had the guts to tell it like it is and thumb their nose at Hollywood. I believe this movie, has been unfairly portrayed as Mel Gibson's personal ideas of the way it all happened. He forgave those who persecuted, condemned and killed him. As for spiritual, how much more spiritual do you want? He looked death in the face and accepted it for mankind. According to the Bible's description of those final hours, I think he did a pretty awesome job. The previous 33 years.well no, it's is specifically about the last 12 hours of my Savior's life.
Many have said it doesn't portray the spiritual aspect of His life. It's supposed to make you think about how far off course this world is(our lives included) and how badly we need to get it back on course.
